AUBURN, Ind. – Auburn Gear has formally announced a partnership with Total Performance Racing (TPR) that will see Auburn Gear’s Performance Enhancing Fifth Generation Camaro Differential take to the track in the Trans Am Series with Todd Napieralski and the No. 39 Chevrolet Camaro.
Napieralski and the Detroit-based TPR team finished second in the TA3: American Muscle Group in the 2015 Trans Am Championship. This year, they will be competing in the TA4 class, the 50th Anniversary of the Trans Am Series, with their eyes set on the championship.
"We're extremely excited to put our product to the test in the grueling environment that is professional road racing,” said Justin Smith, National Sales Manager for Aftermarket Product at Auburn Gear. “Todd (Napieralski) is a proven commodity in the Trans Am Series, a serious professional with the realistic goal of winning a Championship. Our Fifth Gen differential was built to maximize performance and provide a reliable solution for drivers who want to get the most our their V8 Camaros. Traditionally the differential is viewed as the weak point in those powertrains. Together with TPR we’re looking to prove Auburn Gear is the definitive solution Camaro enthusiasts have been looking for."
Auburn Gear’s performance-enhancing limited-slip differential is capable of accommodating all Gen 5 V8 218-millimeter Camaros. The differential harnesses the separation forces that occur within the differential gears as torque increases, improving the torque capacity of the clutch, and providing bias torque to the wheel.
The differential casing is built from high strength ductile iron and its internal gearing is constructed from aircraft quality 9310 heat-treated billet steel, giving it the unparalleled strength and endurance necessary to support a best-in-class bias ratio, delivering every last horsepower to the axle and the pavement.
"We have the utmost confidence in our product and its ability to help Todd and TPR in their pursuit of the TA4 Championship," said Smith. "We’re taking what is essentially an aftermarket product and running it in a legendary road racing series— it’s an incredibly challenge and opportunity, one we’re excited to take on. That’s the faith we have in our design, engineering and the value of American made products."
