For years, lightweight flywheels have been used to distribute the horsepower that an engine creates more efficiently. Aluminum flywheels will add much more performance to your engine. Because the factory-built flywheel is so heavy and so large in diameter, it takes an immense amount of power just to get it rotating. To rotate the factory flywheel from 1000 rpm to 6000 rpm can take as much as 40 horsepower. That same application with an aluminum flywheel, because of its’ lighter weight, takes less than 15 horsepower. This means that the horsepower the engine is saving is actually sent to the wheels and not spent rotating the heavy steel flywheel. To establish this as fact and not theory, Fidanza has tested time and time again.
Both the dynamometer and track results have shown conclusive evidence that a lightweight aluminum flywheel is a must. With all the benefits of the lightweight flywheel, driveability is virtually unchanged and in most cases improved. Whether the car is your daily driver or a pure race machine, Fidanza has the flywheel to suit your needs. Their aluminum flywheels are made from the highest quality 6061 T6 aluminum. The material is fantastic for strength, heat dissipation, and of course reduction in weight. The friction surface the manufacturer uses is an incredibly strong 1050 steel. The plates are milled to meet their high specifications. The Fidanza flywheel can mate with any type of clutch material, including organic, kevlar, ceramic, metallic, and sintered iron. They attach the friction surface with military grade aerospace fasteners. The ring gears Fidanza uses are also made from 1050 steel and are heat treated for durability. The gears are heated, then pressed on and secured with grade 8 button screws. The company was the first to utilize a stepped dowel system in most of their flywheel applications. This doweling method ensures that once the pressure plate is installed, the dowels cannot be removed because they become locked into place. Fidanza designs and builds flywheels with extreme precision. They give tuners, racers, and builders the high performance and unmatched power they’re seeking.
Lighter Weight (40% - 60% Lighter than stock)
Body:
Ring Gear:
Fasteners:
Military grade aerospace fasteners featuring mechanical, self-locking nuts with built in washers for reliability and strength. Friction plate hardware aids in pulling excess heat away from the clutch face to increase longevity and performance. All hardware locations are engineered for optimal clamp load and function.
Button Screws:
Increased security helps redundantly fasten the ring gear to the flywheel in addition to the engineered, interference press fit.
Stepped Dowels:
Once the pressure plate is installed, these dowels become locked in place and cannot come out. First in the industry to implement the use of stepped dowels.
Fidanza steel flywheel differs from the competition by being not only durable but serviceable. Another reason they outperform the competition is that the body is milled from a 1045 billet steel slab. The 1045 is a high carbon steel. It’s incredibly strong and can withstand the rigors of the most extreme engines, drivers, and conditions. Of course all Fidanza steel flywheels include a serviceable 1045 steel insert for the clutch to ride on, which is attached using the highest quality aerospace fastener. The manufacturer attaches the ring gear just like they do with the aluminum flywheel. Each steel flywheel weighs approximately the same as the stock piece.
Each V-Series Kit features:
V-1: Sprung hub full face organic street disc designed for ultimate drivability and performance.
V-2: Sprung hub ceramic 6 puck designed for high-power builds used on the street or track.
Before Fidanza decided to design their adjustable cam gears, they first took a look at what was on the market. Once they saw what was out there, the company knew it could build a better product, so it did. Fidanza adjustable cam gears are made from the highest quality 6061 T6 aluminum. They are CNC machined to more exacting tolerances than original gears. The tooth edges are beveled to increase belt life. With twelve degrees (both advance and retard) of laser etched adjustments, you can be assured of proper tuning. The inner ring is designed for strength, function, and precision. Stainless steel studs are threaded through the backside of the outer gear. The inner gear is then fastened with stainless steel nuts and lock washers. This enables an increase in the amount of torque used to tighten the fasteners, with no risk of stretching to the aluminum threads. All chain drive gears have a 1050 steel outer sprocket.
