Symptom: Electric fans do not turn on (start) at selected “On” temperature: Thermal Sensor May Not Be Functioning; check the wire between the sensor and control unit for cuts, pinches or slices by fan blade or other cause. Replace sensor assembly.
Symptom: Only one electric fan works: Check and replace relay between the control unit and the second fan.
Symptom: To test to verify that both fans work: Energize blue wire; both fans should run.
Symptom: Fan blade “rattles”, is noisy, or is loose on motor shaft. Secure fan blade assembly with silicone caulk:
Symptom: Fan motor “pulsing feel” when blade assembly is rotated by hand: Nothing is wrong with motor. Perma-Cool® electric fan motors feature very strong motor magnets, the “pulsing feel” is normal.
Symptom: Fan motor “locks up” when blade assembly is rotated by hand: Internal components may be loose, return unit to Perma-Cool® for inspection.
Symptom: Fuse holder melted: Replace fuse holder and install 40 Amp fuse. Recommended fuse is a 30-40 Amp fuse for start-up protection in all Cool-Packs™.
Symptom: Fans will not shut off. The controller relay contacts are probably sticking. Remove fuse, allow to cool (cycle down), then re-install fuse. If the fans turn on immediately (or if motors are off and the problem re-occurs), possible defective controller module. Send for service or purchase replacement controller #21006.
Symptom: Only one fan is functioning correctly: Secondary relay may be bad. Replace with a 5-pin, 40A 30/40 12V DC standard automotive relay, or purchase replacement relay #19002.
Symptom: Fans do not turn on with temperature probe, but do when AC is turned on or BLUE wire is energized.
