Where are SuperSprings International, Inc. products manufactured?
All SuperSprings products are proudly manufactured in the U.S.A.
Do products come in a pair (left and right) or are they sold individually?
SuperSprings products are always sold as a complete solution. SuperSprings have both left and right sides. SuperSway-Stops have 4 units, two for each side. SuperSprings do sell our products as individuals if needed. These part numbers are designated with a “.5”. So, an SSA28 is two springs, one for each side. An SSA28.5 is a single spring.
SuperSprings
Are SuperSprings the same as helper springs?
The answer depends on your definition of helper spring. If you think a helper spring is an “add-a-leaf” or “overload spring”, then the answer is no. Learn what a helper spring is in the learn more section of our site. By simple definition, yes, SuperSprings are helper springs in that they do help the original suspension components of your vehicle – and more!
Are SuperSprings leaf springs?
SuperSprings are a suspension stabilizing system, not a simple spring. SuperSprings do utilize a leaf, or semi-elliptical, spring. They are not leafs to be added to existing leaf spring assemblies. SuperSprings are used in conjunction with and in addition to leaf spring assemblies. They are an enhancement, not a replacement to leaf springs.
What shackle hole should I use?
SuperSprings are designed with various shackles. The shackles will have 1, 2, or 3 bolt holes. The bolt holes allow the installer to adjust the SuperSprings. The higher the hole, the more pre-load tension, allowing the SuperSprings to start higher on the spring rate curve. This is useful for applications with uneven loads; for example, crane trucks. The SuperSprings on the crane side of the truck can use the upper bolt holes, while the off-crane side SuperSprings use the lower bolt holes. These bolt holes, and the varying positions, can also be changed by an installer to accommodate varying ride quality preferences.
Do SuperSprings increase my vehicle's payload?
No; absolutely not. Nothing can increase your GVWR. If a company claims they can, they are deceiving you. The GVWR of your vehicle is set by the manufacturer and it cannot change. You should never exceed your vehicle’s GVWR. SuperSprings and all other helper springs are intended to help level loads, not increase GVWR.
Should I use SuperSprings or SumoSprings?
Does your truck/van have rear leaf springs? Do you regularly use your truck/van to carry heavy loads? Is your truck/van setup with a service body? Is your vehicle a crane truck, wrecker truck, tow truck, or other work industry truck carrying a lot of weight? Are you experiencing excessive rear-end sag negatively effecting drive-ability? Does your truck/van have noticeable body roll and poor handling while unloaded or loaded? If so, it sounds like SuperSprings are a great match. Are you an R.V. owner? Do you own a truck/van used for recreational purposes such as towing a boat? Are you looking for a smoother ride and want to dampen road noise and shock? Is your rear suspension not a leaf spring pack? Do you take your vehicle over rough terrain or off-road? If so, it sounds like you should check out SumoSprings.
SumoSprings
What is the difference between airbags, air springs, and SumoSprings?
Airbags and SumoSprings are types of air springs. The main difference between an airbag and SumoSprings is how the air is captured/controlled. With a traditional air bag, a compressor with hoses and valves is used to fill up the balloon inside of the airbag. This requires maintenance so the air bag does not crack and/or leak. The air inside of SumoSprings is captured in millions of air pockets inside the micro-cellular urethane material. You could drill a hole through SumoSprings and they would still work.
What is the capacity of SumoSprings?
The capacity of SumoSprings varies depending on the height, diameter, and density of the spring. SumoSprings are rated by how many pounds of pressure it takes to compress the spring down to 50% of its original body height. You can view a SumoSprings capacity in the Product Guide, Application Guide, or in the Official SuperSprings Online Shop product additional information tab.
Why are SumoSprings different colors?
The different SumoSprings colors identify their density. SumoSprings come in three different densities: -40, -47, and -54. Blue SumoSprings are -40, black SumoSprings are -47, and yellow SumoSprings are -54.
Are SumoSprings used for carrying heavy loads or for ride comfort?
Both! SumoSprings are used for too many applications and benefits to list. Because of their progressive spring rate, and cushion like urethane material, SumoSprings absolutely increase ride comfort. SumoSprings are also springs! Meaning, they will help carry loads. Without SumoSprings, your original equipment carries 100% of the load. SumoSprings work in conjunction with your original equipment to share the load, helping level out sag and reduce wear and tear on your original equipment.

Trailer SumoSprings
How do Trailer SumoSprings work?
Trailer SumoSprings are a SumoSprings Solo air spring mounted to trailer leaf spring assemblies using unique steel brackets. The steel brackets are designed and manufactured by SuperSprings International, Inc. Their genius is in their simplicity, hugging the leaf spring assembly to hold the SumoSprings in place. As the frame lowers from weight or sway, the SumoSprings engage the frame, bearing some of the weight, limiting the load on the leaf springs.
What types of trailers do Trailer SumoSprings work on?
Trailer SumoSprings are available for Lippert Components, Inc. spring-over-axle trailers with a GAWR between 4,000 and 8,000 pounds.
Does SuperSprings fix broken trailer leaf springs?
Trailer SumoSprings are an enhancement to trailer suspension systems. Trailer SumoSprings are not a replacement to failed suspension components. SuperSprings International, Inc. does not manufacture replacement leaf springs.
SumoSprings
Are Coil SumoSprings like other coil spring inserts?
Coil spring inserts work in two ways. First, inserts work by changing the structure or anatomy of the spring itself. The insert changes the spring from a single spring, to two separate functioning sections. This split increases your coil capacity because it generates additional stiffness. In theory, you could shove a piece of wood in the middle of a spring and you would see increased capacity. So, yes, Coil SumoSprings are the same as other inserts, wood included. So what makes one insert better than the others? Second, the spring rate of the insert’s material affects the spring’s behavior. The block of wood has no spring rate, so although you may see an increase in capacity, it is solely because you made the springs stiffer. By using micro-cellular urethane, the Coil SumoSprings act as a spring within a spring. Not only is capacity increased by the change in spring structure, but the progressive spring rate of the Coil SumoSprings increases capacity and ride comfort as well.
What is the capacity of Coil SumoSprings?
Coil SumoSprings can be used on any application with a coil spring. There is no way to give an exact capacity for every application. We have tested Coil SumoSprings on trucks, passenger vans, sedans, utility vehicles, and more. From these tests, we have determined Coil SumoSprings consistently increase the capacity of the coil spring by 15% to 30%.
How do I determine which Coil SumoSprings fits my vehicle?
We have listed several applications by year, make, and model in the interactive Application Guide. Just sort by Product Category “Coil SumoSprings,” and your make and model. If your model is not listed, here are some ways to determine which Coil SumoSprings are right for you. The last three digits of the Coil SumoSprings part number indicate the height of the inner wall. So, CSS-1125 has an inner wall height of 1.25?. You want to use Coil SumoSprings that slide in the turns of the coil unloaded and are snug and slightly pre-loaded while the vehicle is on the ground. We are here to help! Enter your measurements in the form located on the Coil SumoSprings page and we will help confirm a fit.
Will Coil SumoSprings help my minivan's or sedan's suspension?
Yes, absolutely! Coil SumoSprings are very popular on mini vans with bike racks, camping equipment, etc. The Coil SumoSprings will increase the capacity to help level out any sag, and also reduce the amount of sway in the vehicle. The same is true for sedans. Some people choose to use Coil SumoSprings on sedans simply to tighten up their vehicle’s handling.
SuperSway-Stops
When and why would I want to use SuperSway-Stops?
If you are using air springs on the rear of your vehicle and it is equipped with a top overload spring, you are probably unhappy with the amount of sway in the vehicle. This is because your air springs lifted the chassis up higher from the top overload springs, rendering them useless. The overload spring will not provide any benefit unless it is engaged. By filling that void with SuperSway-Stops, you’re allowing the overload spring to engage earlier. Once engaged, the SuperSway-Stops resist and have a progressive spring rate just like SumoSprings.
Can I use SuperSway-Stops without an auxiliary spring?
No. SuperSway-Stops are only applicable for vehicles equipped with a top overload spring.
Are SuperSway-Stops the same as auxiliary spring contact pads?
Yes and no. SuperSway-Stops are the same as contact pads in that they replace and bolt in the same place as contact pads. They are not the same in design and function. Contact pads are typically thin pieces of rubber. SuperSway-Stops are a tall piece of micro-cellular urethane. Contact pads are more than likely not engaged because of there thin design. SuperSway-Stops are designed to be engaged, allowing your top overload spring to do the work it was installed to do.
SuperCoils
Will SuperCoils lift my truck?
Some SuperCoils are intended to lift your truck. Depending on the application, this is typically an inch or two. The lift is a functional lift, to provide additional load support for your vehicle. Other SuperCoils are designed to be at stock ride height. In the interactive Application Guide, check the notes to determine whether or not your particular application has a lift.
Should I use SuperCoils or SumoSprings?
Both! SuperCoils are a replacement to factory coil springs. SumoSprings are an enhancement to your suspension. Sagging or over worked coil springs should be replaced with SuperCoils. Vehicles needing additional load support and/or increased ride comfort should consider using SumoSprings in conjunction with coil springs or SuperCoils. Most popularly, SuperCoils complimented with SumoSprings Solo (in place of factory bump stops) are a great suspension solution.
Can I use SumoSprings with SuperCoils?
Absolutely! There are a number of applications where using SuperCoils in the front and SumoSprings in the rear is the best choice. Or, using SuperCoils and SumoSprings Solo together. Check out the interactive Application Guide, consider your specific application and intended use, and call one of our technicians with any questions.
Installation Tools & Mounting Kits
Do I need to purchase (or, have to use) an Installation Tool?
No, you do not. You can install all SuperSprings products with appropriate common tools. SuperSprings custom installation tools are intended to expedite SuperSprings installation times and increase safety.
Why should I purchase an Installation Tool?
Those who install more than one set of SuperSprings a year should consider purchasing installation tools. Our tools can cut installation times down to a few minutes! These tools will increase safety and reduce the chances of any injuries caused from the use of inadequate or inappropriate tools.
What is the difference between the three tools?
For light, medium, and some heavy duty installations, the SuperClamp is the fastest tool. For medium duty applications, increase safety using the AcmeClamp. The AcmeClamp is not as quick as the SuperClamp, but provides additional safety by having rails on both sides of the clamp. The Hydraulic Clamp is unique to heavy duty SuperSprings that need high-power clamping force when installed.
How do I know if I need a mounting kit?
SuperSprings installations use either a Mounting Kit, Poly Spring Pad mounting block, or mount directly to the axle. PSP mounting blocks are included with SuperSprings and do not need to be purchased separately. Some applications require an MTKT orMXKT mounting kit. These mounting kits are purchased in addition to the SuperSprings. In the interactive Application Guide, refer to the column titled “Mounting.” This will indicate what PSP is included or what mounting kit is required.
Are mounting kits sold separately or included with SuperSprings?
All of the various Poly Spring Pad mounting blocks are included with SuperSprings. MTKT, MXKT, and other specialty mounting kits are sold separately.
