Clutch Kits

More vehicles in the last two decades were produced in OE with a dual mass flywheel (DMF). Although the DMF has advantages, there are many disadvantages too, especially replacement in the aftermarket.

Here are some issues with the DMF:

• The user should not try to resurface upon failure, therefore, a new expensive one is needed
• Due to a high price, many providers in the IAM will not stock the DMF sufficiently, leading to installers and end users going directly to dealerships
• High failure rate in some applications leads to warranty returns and a high level of customer dissatisfaction

To solve this troubling issue, Valeo has designed and brought Solid Flywheel Conversion Kits to the market. Now, with one of these kits, a failed DMF setup can be completely replaced.

Valeo’s kits contain every component that a technician needs to change out a clutch. Each kit contains a clutch disc assembly, pressure plate cover assembly, release bearing, alignment tool, grease pack, and installation guide. Also included when necessary are a pilot bearing, and technical service bulletin. Some kits also come with a flywheel. Valeo’s numeric, user-friendly part numbers have been designed to support the marketplace.

Packaging

Valeo’s kits use packaging that is state of the art to ensure that the product arrives and remains free of damage right up to the time it is installed in a vehicle. The extra durable locking tabs ensure product security within its packaging until it is removed for final installation. Valeo kits are packaged in an attractive, reinforced box that includes hand held slots for the heavier kits. The Valeo Dual-Friction clutch kit is a performance matched pressure plate & disc along with a release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool for complete installation. The DF-Pro pressure plate features a centrifugal weight system (where applicable) and specialized machining processes to provide a performance clutch that offers exceptional street characteristics, while offering outstanding holding-capacity and durability. The DF-Pro disc has a full facing on the pressure plate side for drivability and longevity, while a carbon composite puck style (segmented) facing is used on the flywheel side for a positive engagement and increased holding-capacity. Truck Clutch Kits

Valeo offers a great range of clutch kits and flywheels for Class 5 - 8 medium and heavy duty trucks. Valeo medium duty program includes 70 unique references for 16 truck makes and over 70 models! The coverage includes trucks made by Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Freightliner, GMC, Hino, Isuzu, Kenworth, Mack, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi Fuso, Navistar, Nissan UD, Peterbilt, Scania, and Volvo.

All of Valeo’s truck clutch kits are complete and include the cover, disc, center plate, release bearing and grease pack. An alignment tool and pilot bearing are also included in many references. When converting from a twin disc to a Valeo single disc replacement, a bolt kit is also included. Spanner wrenches are a vital tool for installation and are available for purchase from Valeo.

Technically, Valeo’s truck kits are superb! Proven, superior designs including self-adjusting technology, diaphragm & angle spring covers and the highest quality cerametallic facings are all offered. The Valeo designed and produced clutches allow for better driving performance because the single disc design reduces shift effort and eliminates drag. There is reduced pedal effort at the floor and a longer travel damper reduces vibration and noise. Fewer moving parts mean better reliability. No internal clutch adjustments are necessary. The release system is easy for one person to adjust. Good diaphragm design increases the life of the clutch by giving uniform plate pressure and greater plate load as the disc assembly wears.

Flywheels
