Westin® - 5" R5™ Series Nerf Step Bars

These bars look great on my Ram 3500 long bed. They seem to be well made. They were delivered in one large box. Both the Westin website and TRUCKiD website state that there is no drilling required. Don't believe it. On about page 5 of the instructions clearly state that drilling is required. The instructions state to install the rear support on the bed support right behind the cab. This is also not correct. I had to email a number of pictures and they told me it was on the next support back. I ended up taking the R5's to the local 4 wheel parts store to have them install them. When I took them in they told me that it should only take about 2 hours. It ended up taking 4 hours. The owner said they have never seen an installation like this before.

I have a 2022 4Runner TRD Sport. This new-to-the-4Runner-series is equipped with the Limited's lower trim. I originally put on the Toyota factory running boards but found that they only provided about 2 1/2" of step space to step on... just not enough! These running boards do the trick, giving me sufficient room for my foot, and are actually useful. I'd prefer angled front and ends to give it a more refined look, but they do the trick and look pretty good. If you are in the same situation, they are a good option.

I agree with previous review. Hang too low.

All the bolts (three sizes), washers (three sizes / two types) and nuts come in a single bag. There's no way to tell them apart from reading the instructions. There are no images or sizes to show you which bolt the instructions refer to in a specific step. The drawings and photos are also horrible. They're not clear and have very poor resolution, so it's almost impossible to figure out which bolts and washers go together. You have to fumble around and figure it out thru trial and error. You also have to read very closely to figure out which bolts go with what part. There are four brackets total. They come in plastic bags...two in clear plastic...and two in green plastic. However, the instructions don't tell clearly tell you the difference between them or where they attach. I had to get underneath my vehicle and fiddle around to match up the brackets with the existing bolt holes before I could figure out where each one goes. Hint: there are two brackets that attach under the front doors and two (differently shaped) brackets that fit under the rear doors. Other than the instructions, installation appears to be pretty easy. I say "appears" because I expected to put both step bars on in about 90 minutes. However, it took me an hour just to get things organized and to figure out which pieces of hardware fit together, and where each bracket attaches. By the time I was ready to really get started I was out of light and will have to finish on another day. Except for the instructions, the step bars, brackets and hardware seem to be good quality. They're all well-built and seem pretty sturdy. The only other complaint I have is that the "free" LED End Cap Kit that was supposed to come with my order wasn't included in the box and never arrived separately. All in all, while the actual product quality seems good I would probably think twice about about ordering again from Westin or TRUCKiD.

The bars seem to be good quality and look good but they hang too low for my taste. Less than a foot from the ground with a pretty big gap from the rocker panel to the bars. They would be perfect for someone that needs a low step. I wish I knew they were that low before purchasing.

Product looks great & appears to be of very high quality. In the first couple of weeks on the car, they have been exposed to salt & snow and a couple of washes. No issues yet.

The running board were great and fit my Canyon GMC perfectly.

One of the square bolt heads broke off in the running board track when it was tighten. It was not over torqued. It had a defective head. Had to make a new one from a carriage bolt and un-bolt the other bolts to slide it in the track. The quality of running boards are great.

Bought these for my 2022 Silverado, it’s a little pricy but I think it’s worth it. They are real American made material and I have no doubt that they’ll last quite a while. They do look to hang a little lower than other styles, but I think it adds to the functionality of the boards. Other than that, these look fantastic and function great!
