Installation
Running off-road with the factory doors on is like skinny-dipping in a winter coat. There's no substitute for removing the factory doors. Doing so will provide vastly more visibility for the terrain around your Jeep when rock-crawling, as well as shedding a fair amount of weight. But mostly, it will provide that amazing sense of freedom and connection to the land you're 4-wheeling through. And that's what it's really about, right? Unfortunately, most states won't let you drive on public roads to the trailhead with no doors. And some people, like wives or girlfriends can't deal with that much freedom. Especially if the kids are in the back seat, open to the potential of injury from a rock or branch. So what do you do? Leaving the OEM doors at the trailhead, bike-cabled to a tree for a couple of days is an auto theft/insurance claim in the making. The answer is to replace the OEM doors with these close-fitting trail doors. The mesh insert is open enough you still get the sight lines and sense of openness, but get a modicum of protection and a sense of security – especially when you're on the downhill side of a steep traverse. These doors latch tightly, so they don't rattle, and install in seconds.
