Product Details
Automatic Transmission Clutch Spring Compressor by CTA®. Use to remove and install the snap-ring on the long reverse piston and return spring, without removing the center shaft and clutch assembly from the transmission housing.
Installation
Instructions:
1. Set-up. Remove the snap-ring & clutch pack from the drum. Install tool's spring arm shoes in snap-ring groove that held the clutch pack in. Compressing the tool's spring arms, install the tool. Set the tool's pads on top of the return spring cage. Adjust the pads and lock in place by tightening the wing nuts. 2. Snap-ring Removal. Turn knob on top of tool clockwise, until the spring cage is compressed. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE CAGE. Compress enough to create room to release the snap-ring. Remove snap-ring using snap-ring pliers. 3. Remove tool. Turn handle counter-clockwise. Compress spring arms to remove shoes from groove. Remove tool & lift off the clutch drum spring retainer. 4. Final Steps. Remove the return spring. Remove the parking pawl. Remove the long reverse piston. 5. Snap-ring Installation. Reverse above steps.
