Diamond Reo Semi Truck Parts & Accessories

Semi Truck Parts & Accessories

Diamond Reo Trucks was formed as a division of the White Motor Corporation as a result of Reo Trucks and Diamond T merger in 1967. The history of both of its predecessors can be traced back to the early 1900s. REO are initials of Ransom Eli Olds, one of the pioneers of automotive manufacturing sphere in the United States and the one who established the Oldsmobile brand. Before becoming a part of Diamond Reo Trucks, Diamond T founded by C.A. Tilt was focusing on the production of passenger cars and later commercial vehicles of traditional-slipper and cab-over-engine models and military trucks.

In 1971, Diamond Reo was sold to Francis L. Cappaert who decided to form an independent truck manufacturer with a well-known name and solid reputation. Even though the new Diamond Reo C-116 powered by a Detroit Diesel or one of three Cummins engines was introduced just before the acquisition, the company still struggled to make the ends meet and was forced to file for bankruptcy in just three years after forming. In 1975, the right to Diamond Reo vehicles was sold once again. The manufacturing facility was relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The sole Diamond Reo C-116 Giant Class 8 model which came equipped with the Cummins NTC-290 diesel engine as standard remained in production up until 1995.

At the turn of the millennium, the reorganized Diamond Vehicle Solutions LLC introduced the new series of T-line trucks consisting of three models – one long-hood and two medium-hood versions. The clients could choose between Cummins and Caterpillar powerplants, Allison and Eaton gearboxes, and axles by Dana and Meritor. Navistar was the main supplier of cabin accessories and parts. The T-line series offered a seamless blend of traditional Diamond T design and the latest technological advancements. The models remained in production until 2010. Three years later, the owners of the brand were forced to shut down the manufacturing of original replacement components.
