Good Fit and Appearance; Needs More Adhesive
I have a 2008 Mustang Convertible and like most owners of this model of car, I grew tired of re-gluing the vinyl door panel back into place. I researched different options of new overlays, glues and came across the Coverlay product. I'm not a "car guy" and I don't usually do my own repairs. I'll self-rate my mechanical prowess with automobiles as a medium to low level. I researched and followed various written and video guidance from Coverlay as well as other private auto shops. I followed the guidance with no deviation. Results. First, the Coverlay insert for my 2008 Mustang seemed to fit perfectly prior to adding glue. Once glue was added (according to Coverlay instructions) the door seemed to fit in one place, but then the opposite side/end would pop out of place. The Coverlay instructions of using tape to secure the panel into place while the glue hardened, was not close to adequate. So, I sat there waiting on the glue to cure and gain enough strength to retain its grip. There are a few places that I need to touch up, but otherwise the fit is seeemless. Second, Coverlay provided one bottle/tube of adhesive to insert both panels (1 x driver side, 1 x passenger side). This was not nearly an adequate amount of glue. I highly recommend acquiring or being provided a second bottle/tube of adhesive. Having too much glue leaves you plenty to use where needed; every project is different. Having too little glue has you scrounging around the garage searching frantically for a quick alternative. Recommendation. I do recommend this product as a pretty good substitute for the vinly panel insert. It's been less than 24 hours since I installed it so I'll reserve my rating for "Great" after a few months and changes in weather/temperature. For now, I highly recommend providing a second tube of adhesive. It's a good product and I'm thankful for finding it online.
