It Worked ... Cleared the Code; Saved Me a Bunch of Money.
My Equinox was showing a code for quite sometime indicating that the cat converter was failing (P04023, I think). For about a year it would come on then off. Then it stayed on solid for about a year. Registration was coming up and therefore I finally had to do something. I bought this converter for $300 (vs the dealer wanting $1300 to replace it :-O). It was worth the risk (even if it did not clear the code). The installation went smoother than expected. It was the cat at the font of the motor (radiator side). The hardest part was getting the OEM unit out once I unbolted it. After installing it, the code was not cleared immediately (as expected). I drove the car for about a week when the code finally cleared. Yes! I just saved $1000. It has been about 2 months and all is well. As soon as I get my registration notice, I will be going to the DEQ (in case of failure). CON (maybe): the unit is quite a bit smaller than the OEM unit; I am guessing that it will not last as long? I replaced at ~110k miles.

It looked just like the one I removed! It wasn't too hard to install.
