Dorman® - HVAC Control Module

I received this refurbished unit and it appeared like new, aesthetically it was excellent. However, the unit was defective from the start. Several controls required they be pressed multiple times before the unit would respond to change the temperature, change airflow location, etc. After a trip to cooler weather the unit would not allow for me to turn it off even. I contacted warranty support for a replacement. I was asked to provide a video of the faulty unit, which I sent, showing the unit unresponsive to multiple presses of several different buttons. After multiple WEEKS I was instructed to wait for TRUCKiD to process warranty paperwork. After a couple more weeks I was emailed a return label and instructed to mail back the defective unit. Keep in mind, I have yet to receive a replacement unit. They expect me to remove the defective unit from a working car, mail it back to them and wait who knows how long for a warranty repair. That is unacceptable and terrible warranty service. I strongly suggest you be warned of this poor service if you are considering buying a refurbished unit from TRUCKiD.

The product works intermittently. First time I drove with it the unit screen just shut off. Backlight still worked, but nothing for HVAC control. Restarted the vehicle and it didn't fix anything. The next morning it worked fine. It also doesn't do a very good job regulating temperature. The factory algorithm is much better. This unit doesn't allow for the AC to go as cold, and the heat as hot. It's like it doesn't move the blend doors as far. And yes I tested with the OEM unit and an IR thermometer. I got it so my backlight would work again, probably going to go back to the OEM version, this one is too frustrating.

The climate control module has two fatal flaws. The rocker fan control switch barely functions and both temperature control pots send random signals, skip several degrees when trying to adjust temperature. The old unit works significantly better. Another less problematic issue is the lights are very dim - almost orange in color. Very disappointing. The instrument cluster is fine except for the gas gauge calibration. The tank is empty with the needle above E. I can live with it but shouldn't have to. I will be contacting Dorman by phone on Monday. Tim Schlabach.

I received the unit in good packaging with no issues. But when I compared the connectors to those on my vehicle, they didn't match up. Apparently Dodge made a model change mid* year I guess and I had an older control head. But when I checked on the Dorman website there was no indication that it may not fit. So now I'm working to find an adapter connector harness.

This was my first purchase with TRUCKiD and it was a very good experience. They had a part in stock that nobody else did. The product arrived on time and the customer service was great.

The product looked perfect, replaced the original part within about ten minutes after finding some YouTube instructions on my particular vehicle. It works flawlessly and I have no regrets for purchasing it here for this reasonable price.
