    Product Details

Swept Side™ Stainless Steel DPF-Back Exhaust System with Single Side Exit by Gibson®. With Muffler Delete Pipe. Exhaust System Type: DPF-Back. Exhaust Tubing Material: Stainless Steel. Main Tubing Diameter: 4". Exhaust System Sound: Aggressive / Loud. Muffler delete pipe included. Get increased horsepower and torque in the rpm range where you need it most, with this Swept Side Cat-Back Exhaust System. This Gibson exhaust system makes maximum low end power, which is best for towing, general performance and increased fuel economy, with a deep, aggressive exhaust tone. It's made of stainless steel and comes with a polished stainless steel exhaust tip.

    Installation

There are many performance exhaust system manufacturers that make extravagant power claims, with a lot of talk about increased flow with huge exhaust tubing. But their systems usually make the most power at 5000-6000 rpm, an rpm range seldom used on the street, even by performance vehicles. And those sewer pipe sized tubes actually reduce torque at lower rpm, where you need it the most.

The Gibson Swept Side Cat-Back Exhaust System is designed and built to make horsepower and torque for real world driving conditions. Dyno results show that this system makes maximum horsepower and torque at 1800-3000 rpm, where you can feel it during every day driving and where you need it when doing things like towing a trailer. And along with that increased power and improved performance you get better fuel economy and a nice deep, aggressive exhaust tone.

Gibson designed this exhaust system at their fully equipped research and development center, using engine and chassis dynos, flow benches and audio testing equipment. To make useable real world power, Gibson equips this system with a Suspended Flow Technology (SFT) design muffler and mandrel bent tubing. The all-welded construction SFT design muffler is baffled and chambered for better volume efficiency with unrestricted flow. It's so efficient it has only 5% exhaust flow restriction, as opposed to the 34% or more restriction in a typical stock muffler, and the 10-20% restriction that exists with some aftermarket mufflers. And the increased flow and great sound is achieved without using any muffler packing, so there's no packing to blow out. Your exhaust flow and sound will remain consistent throughout the life of the muffler.

The other key to less restriction and improved flow is mandrel bent tubing. First Gibson selects the optimal tubing diameter for the best engine efficiency, not the most exhaust flow, then they use CNC mandrel tube benders to make every tubing bend. Mandrel bending ensures smooth bends and makes sure the pipe maintains its size and shape throughout the entire length. Tubes that aren't mandrel bent can lose a percentage of their diameter in sharp bends, creating restriction. CNC mandrel bending provides consistent bending so every system flows as designed.

Finally, all Gibson exhaust system components are joined with a “slip fit”, where an exhaust system component fits into the larger opening of the next downstream component. This method reduces the turbulence that is common with ‘ball-and-socket” or “flange-and-gasket” joints, which can cause power-robbing backpressure.

The Gibson Swept Side Cat-Back Exhaust System is available in your choice of stainless steel or aluminized steel. Each comes with a highly polished T304 stainless steel clampless exhaust tip. The system comes with everything required for installation, including zinc plated factory style hangers and clamps, and detailed instructions. Aluminized systems are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, but not rust through, for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which the system is installed. Stainless steel systems are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, including rust through, for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which the system is installed.

Gibson exhaust systems are manufactured in the USA.

Gibson Single Side for Ram 2500 Mega Cab
It didn't take long to hook up, but there really doesn't seem to be a difference in the exhaust tone until your above 2k-2.5k RPM's, basically when you gun it off the line. The exhaust tip pipe section hits the heat shield for the spare tire, and the chrome tip itself taps on the rear quarter panel when you hit small bumps in the road. I've tried to get a little more space between the tip and the quarter panel, but to no avail. I will have to work on it some more. It does look great on the truck, however, function is more important to me than looks.

    Very Easy to Install.
Took me n my buddy about 2 hours to install, but that’s because the old one was rusted together. Had to cut it off, but after that took about 15 min to install, sounds great and not obnoxious in towns.

    It Works
Got a new exhaust manifold, down pipe, flow master catalytic converter, and this and it’s not very aggressive/ loud at all. Yes I know it’s a 4 banger but it’s almost as quiet as stock. Overall good product and it fit well with minor fabricating.

I love the sound of the exhaust. I can definitely tell a difference in horse power and torque.

    Super Easy
Took half a day removing and installing the new exhaust without a lift first-time exhaust installer. FYI it's not as loud as you would think.
