Great Neck® has followed one rule since the production of its first hacksaw blade in 1919: "Manufacture a superior quality, dependable tool for a reasonable price." The story of the company began when Samuel Jacoff, a tool and die maker, started a hacksaw blade manufacturing business with the help of his wife Sarah. By 1971, Sam and his four sons built Great Neck into a major force in the hand tool business by purchasing Buck Bros., a Massachusetts chisel company, and Mayes Brothers, a level company from Tennessee.
