Engine builders have always been looking to maximize the power output and the efficiency of the naturally aspirated engine. One of the best ways to do this is by turbocharging or supercharging the engine since this allows the vehicle to go faster without building a bigger engine and using more fuel. The supercharger is almost as old as the internal combustion engine itself. The world's first functional supercharger was made by a Scottish engineer, Dugald Clerk, who used it on the first commercial two-stroke engine in 1878. In 1885, this technology was patented by Gottlieb Daimler. The first turbo design was introduced by a Swiss engineer, Dr. Alfred Büchi, over 100 years ago. Ever since turbo and superchargers have continued to evolve, but their main principle of operation has remained unchanged.
Both turbo and superchargers are forced induction systems used to compress air and push it into the engine's cylinders. Supplying the engine with more oxygen-rich air means more fuel can be added and burned, thus more power can be generated. The main difference between a turbo and supercharger is in the way they are powered. Superchargers are engine-driven air compressors, while turbos are driven by exhaust gases from the combustion process. Since turbochargers and superchargers work hard to boost horsepower, they can eventually wear out, affecting engine performance. If you need to restore lost horsepower and fuel efficiency, our selection of OEM turbo and superchargers is for you. We've got everything from complete OEM turbocharger and supercharger assemblies to blow off and diverter valves to wastegates, boost controllers, intercoolers, and many other related components. Made by original equipment manufacturers, these are the same parts your vehicle came with from the factory. They meet the highest quality standards and are guaranteed to fit and function the way you need them to.
