Back in the 1980s, Pacbrake was the first to develop and patent a combination engine brake utilizing an exhaust valve, and by 2000, the company became the largest exhaust brake and thermal management valve manufacturer in North America. Research and development performed by the company is a huge part of its success. All stages of product design take place in-house, from idea to manufacture. All parts go through mechanical and software design stages, with modeling, CAM, 2D/3D kinematics and dynamics design, complete performance and system analysis, and Fortran programming. All Pacbrake exhaust brake components, as well as Pacbrake air suspension kits and other parts, are tested as probably no other product – apart from high temperature and corrosion, they undergo vibration and environmental testing.
