    Product Details

1-Click Extreme Z36 Truck and Tow Drilled and Slotted Rear Brake Kit without Calipers (K9243-36) by PowerStop®. This kit is the ultimate in heavy-duty braking for your vehicle. It includes slotted and cross-drilled rotors and PowerStop Z36 high-friction metallic pads. Improve your braking capability under all conditions, wet, hot, hilly, or while towing at max weight.

    Installation

    Rotor Benefits:

    • Drilled holes and Slots create an escape route for debris, dust, gases, and water
    • Slots clean and de-glaze pad surface for optimum pad coefficient of friction
    • Slots help to increase pad bite and improve air circulation
    • Drilled holes and Slots reduce stopping distances in wet weather
    • Drilled rotors improve the appearance of your wheels and provide reduced rotor weight

Don't go halfway when it's time to redo the brakes on your truck. Whether you tow a trailer, race or just drive aggressively , you should have the best brakes possible. PowerStop gives you the best of both worlds: let's start with the brake pads. Factory, OEM brake pads are a bucketful of compromises. They balance several factors, including pad noise, dust generation, service life, cost and – oh yeah, friction. But what works for most can be improved on. These Z36 metallic pads have a 17% higher coefficient of friction than OEM pads, giving you more stopping power, without standing on the pedal at the bottom of every long hill.

That would make these pads a great upgrade on your stock rotors, but you've already decided not to go halfway. Don't try to reuse your old discs, even if they still have enough meat on them after refinishing them to meet minimum thickness specifications. A thinner disc is a disc that has less mass. And it takes lots of mass to dissipate heat in a hurry, so get a pair of PowerStop drilled, slotted discs at the same time. Mass soaks up heat quickly during a panic stop, but it takes surface area and moving air to keep the rotors cool on a long downhill or in heavy stop-and-go traffic. Cross-drilling a disc adds surface area for improved cooling, but it also makes a dramatic improvement in braking performance in the rain. Cross drilling keeps water from wedging between the pad and disc surface, making the pad hydroplane, which severely affects braking ability.

Slotting does help some in the rain, although it has other advantages. During a high-speed stop, especially with a trailer or heavy load, the organic binders in the pad material will literally boil. This is normal; the problem is that the outgassing binder turns the pad into a hot little air-hockey puck that barely touches the disc surface. It rides on a pocket of outgassing binder, keeping the pad from contacting a normal, unslotted disc. Slots sweep the gases away, letting you glide to a normal stop in time instead of running that red light at the bottom of the hill with both feet standing on the brake pedal. Not fun. PowerStop's 1-Click Extreme Truck and Tow Brake Kit combines the advantages of both cross drilling and slotting to provide you with superior stopping ability, whether it's halfway down a hill, while towing, or during the rain. Add in the superior grip, low noise and dust generation of the Z36 high-friction metallic pads, and stop in comfort and safety.

PowerStop also uses the best technology for anti-squeal shims: constrained steel. A sandwich of two layers of steel with a viscoelastic layer between them prevents acoustic coupling between the pad and caliper piston, eliminating brake squeal. Other manufacturers attempt to use a single layer of steel or a layer of Teflon to achieve this. PowerStop's solution, while pricier, is far more effective.

No Hardware Included, Received No Pad Clips or Anything Else
I trusted for the price of this kit that it would be a good kit. It looks nice, well-built, heavy, but included NO hardware needed for the install, so as I had to re-use my old pad clips and such as no clips or boots were included. This is the reason for the 4 stars. No included hardware, clips, nothing, just the rotors and pads isn't acceptable for the premium price paid on this kit.

    Good Brakes for Price
The brakes work well and look cool. Good replacement for stock ones. Now that being said do not expect to get better stoping power than factory pads, not happen with this kit. I was an auto technician for 20 years so I know brakes, replaced thousands. I would use them again, nothing wrong with them. Just the promoting of them is misleading.

    So Far They Are Great!
Installed front and rear on a 2015 Toyota 4Runner SR5. They look fantastic. Everything was shipped properly with all the correct matching parts. The only thing I did not use were the rear caliper rubber boots for the sleeve pins as the existing boots were just fine. Broke them in properly and my stopping power in the SR5 has greatly improved. Highly recommend this kit for any 4Runner owner. Time will tell how they hold up but really great so far!

    2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins
I purchased the Extreme Z36 Truck and Tow kit for my 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 and had everything installed about two months ago. First off, let me state I had no issues with the stock rotors and pads, with the exception that the rotors had warped and were in need of replacement at about 190,000 miles. Good stuff. That being said, after the initial break-in period, say 3 or 4 weeks, this set is miles ahead of the OEM gear. Light braking is as you would expect from OEM components, but if you need to get on it, there is a notable difference in a good way. It has been mostly dry since I put them on, but I do not anticipate any difference in braking power in the wet. For towing I had no problems, but I tend to rely more on the trailer brakes anyway. If I am towing downhill in steep terrain, which is one of the reasons I purchased this set, I have no concerns if the trailer's brakes start to fade. I do wish that I had added new calipers to this kit, as the fronts needed replacing. I would buy this kit again, and would recommend this to anyone looking for extra braking power.

    I Would Recommend to Anyone
Way better stopping power and really smooth stops and slow downs.. you can definitly feel that they require less brake pedal pressure to start slowing you. I have a similar kit from power stop on my 2011 camaro.. I have put over 40000 miles on them since I installed them 5 yrs ago.... the rotors are still smooth, and the pads still almost as thick as when in installed them. These kits may cost a little more then buying standard pads and rotors at a parts store, but over time they will save you money, and give you better performance.

So far they are holding up well. Every so often I get a slight smell to them as if they are burning. Will have to check with the installer on that. Will definitely be purchasing them again
