Product Details

Universal Weight Distribution Bar with Dual Cam (66092) by Reese®. Weight Capacity: 800 lbs TW / 10000 lbs GTW. Limited Lifetime Warranty. In addition to the changes in the head, Weight Distributing Kits include the highest rated spring bars per class in the industry. They also feature an integrated cam for easy set up with the optional Dual Cam High-Performance Sway Control. Other features include 9-link chains for easier set up on larger trailer frames and innovative snap-up brackets designed for superior strength and durability. This weight distributing system is designed with tapered spring bars for a softer ride. Friction material, used for say control, provides a quiet ride. Wide spring bars, with a simple pin and clip assembly, reduce wear in the head and on the friction pads.

Installation

Reese® - Installationing the STEADi-FLEX™ Sway Control and Weight Distribution HitchReese® - Installationing the STEADi-FLEX™ Sway Control and Weight Distribution Hitch

You need to put 10-15% of your total trailer weight on the tongue for good stability, and sometimes that's far too much tongue weight for the tow vehicle. It overstresses the rear springs, reduces weight on the front tires and compromises steering, and generally makes your whole rig hard to control. A properly set-up Weight Distributing hitch will transfer weight from the rear axle to the front, leveling the truck. That means you have full weight on the front tires for steering, a rear ride height that keeps you off the bump stops and keeps the headlight aimed properly. If your rig still has sway issues, even with properly adjusted tongue weight, then you can add a sway control device, either mechanical, friction or hydraulic to work in concert with your WD hitch to really tame that sway. Don't tire yourself out fighting a poorly-set-up, ill-handling rig. Don't take chances with a rig that won't go straight, doesn't respond to the steering wheel properly and has poor braking performance, all because the weight is all on the wrong end of the truck.

Reese SC Load Distribution Hitch
This was my first experience with a load distribution hitch. We recently reduced the size of our RV trailer from 25' 6000lbs to 17' 2800lbs. We also changed tow vehicles from a Dodge 2500 CTD (why I never felt the need for a dist hitch) to a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. All I can say is wow, the combination of distributing the load and the trunnion bars acting as stabilizers works fantastic. The Jeep sits completely level with the hitch installed and my wife who's an inexperienced tower is comfortable driving the setup.

Reese® 58461 - Left Hand Frame Bracket
The product is made very well and I am pleased with the purchase. They are a good replacement for the originals that I had on the trailer before.
