Question:

I purchased one of these fan clutches from Rock Auto. I've noticed that before starting the engine (ie when its cold) the fan does not spin freely when its manually rotated. While it can be turned by hand, there is resistance and it stops straight away when you remove hand pressure. I've read on the internet that fan clutches should spin freely (up to 3 turns) when the engine is cold and that the resistance is supposed to be there when they heat up. Is there something wrong with the one I've purchased or are they meant to be this way?
