Muffler Configuration: Offset - Centered. This muffler is the right choice if you opt for quality acoustics and performance. Walker offers 100% aluminized steel universal fit SoundFX Mufflers designed to maintain a quality appearance and agreeable exhaust tone.

The SoundFX Muffler by Walker is a quality and cost-effective repair alternative. These mufflers are available in both direct-fit or universal configurations. Direct-fit mufflers are designed as a direct OE replacement and constructed specially for your car and perfectly match the OE muffler in size, shape and hanger placement. This configuration allows for easy, worry-free installation. Universal fit muffler is a more economical option as it is not vehicle-specific.

Each SoundFX Muffler is manufactured from 100% aluminized steel for greater durability and quality appearance. It features reinforced bracketed heads that help improve structural support and stability. One of the reasons of premature muffler failure is rupture from backfires. To provide effective resistance from backfire and exhaust gas leakage, SoundFX Muffler heads are spun-locked to the shell. Internal tubes are mechanically joined to prevent spot weld breakage and flow tube deformation.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

Walker warrants qualifying exhaust products against defects and wear out when used on private passenger cars and light trucks under normal operating conditions for as long as such original purchaser owns the vehicle on which they were originally installed. Rust/corrosion damage is not covered by this warranty.

Walker’s obligation under this warranty is limited to replacement of the worn out or defective product with the same product in accordance with this warranty. Any incidental and consequential damages are excluded under this warranty, regardless of when the failure occurs. This warranty does not apply to products which have been modified, improperly applied or installed on vehicles used for commercial or racing purposes.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. Any implied warranties you may have under state law are limited to the same duration as this warranty. Excellent Bang (or Lack thereof) for You

I purchased this fella for my 85 Firebird. I'm doing a rebuild on a tight budget for kicks, and am thoroughly impressed. I might as well be driving a Prius lmoa. A fantastic steal if you need a stock muffler, no need to sound like a Honda Civic with its camber adjusted and vape clouds billowing out your window. ;)

Walker SoundFX Muffler

Product took a little longer to ship due to back order but the customer service department took care of me and got one out to me asap! Packaged nicely, looks great on my 1976 F150, easy to install took about 30 minutes with a little tweaking had to go to my local auto store and pick up an adapter to fit my pipes. Overall happy with the muffler!

Walker 17871 Muffler

I bought this to use in my diesel generator. Most sites make you choose by vehicle make, model, and year. I was looking for specific inlet and outlet measurements. TRUCKiD is the only site I found that gave dimensions and didn't make me choose a car to put it on. Though the muffler is small, it's perfect for quieting my generator exhaust noise. I'm very happy with the product and the service.

Great muffler

The original muffler on my 93 Saab was completely rusted out and became super loud, so I purchased this one. This is a very quiet muffler and for the price cannot be beat. I attached my new bracket strap to the existing spot and slid the new muffler over the cut exhaust pipe. I tightened the strap around the muffler and put a clamp around where the new muffler met the pipe. I did not remove my rear tire to do this but I did back my car up onto ramps. It took ten minutes to install and now my car is very quiet.

Solid well built!

I used this muffler on my emergency home generator. The connection between the generator motor and muffler was made with a Walker Exhaust 40002 Flex Tubing-Steel and 1 5/8" clamp (at engine) and a 1 3/4" clamp (at muffler). The flex tubing needed to be expanded (using and exhaust expander) to go over the muffler inlet.

CARiD Answer:

Hi, a "non reversible" muffler means that there is a dedicated inlet side, and a dedicated outlet side. It must be installed so that exhaust gases enter on the "inlet" side and exit on the "outlet" side. It should not be installed in the reverse position.
