Product Details

Universal StepUp Hitch Mount Bike Rack by Yakima®. Hold up: 2 Bikes. Bike Attachment Type: Wheel. Bike Mounting Type: Platform. Trunk Access: Tiltable. Sleek, heavy duty design that is fully featured for a core cyclist's needs; easy to fit, load and unload bikes with quick swing-away access to the rear of the vehicle to grab gear or load groceries. Features StadiumSeating for bike protection and optional off-set trays to ensure wide ranging bike fit.

You know what carries gear better than the inside of your car? A Yakima Roof Rack System. It not only provides the most options and capacity for carrying the widest range of gear, it frees up room so you can carry more friends, too. Plus, with 35 years in the biz, we’ve put time and resources into creating systems that are custom-designed for each roof.

If you're looking for a multi-bike carrier that's the easiest and fastest to load, then you need a tray-style hitch mount. The tray-style transports the bikes closer to the ground than any other carrier type, so loading requires the least amount of lifting. And because the bikes are transported on the wheels, a tray-style carrier can carry a wide range of bike styles. Just place the bike wheels in the wheel trays and push the StrongArm ratcheting wheel hook down against the front tire; wrap the ratcheting wheel strap around the rear tire and tighten, and you're ready to go!

A trunk mount bike rack may be the most versatile type of bike carrier. You don't need a roof rack system or a hitch receiver and they're easy to remove and install. They're lightweight, compact, easy to store, and easy to switch between vehicles. And they fit a wide range of vehicles, mounting to trunk lids, hatchbacks, minivans, wagons and SUVs.

Love It!!
First I will say the only problem I had with the initial installation was matching up screw holes. Had to have an extra set of hands to line holes up so as to not strip the holes/screws. This is one sharp bike rack. Yes it is slightly heavy but not unbearable. Not some cheap, wobbly piece of equipment. I have used it twice, with longest trip 200 miles. Couldn't even tell it was back there. Needed to keep checking, that's how smooth it was. No bouncing, swaying or anything. This was with one bike so I can't speak on what it feels like with two yet. Love all the security locks as well.

It Works
The basic construction of this product makes it a sound hitch bike rack. 2 bolts mount the upper to the hoist; 1 bolt through the hitch, and it's done.

Installation and Quality
The product seems to be good quality and installation took about 40 minutes. Once set for the height and wheel sizes, it appears to be secure. Thanks.
