Unveiled in 2006, the International ProStar quickly became popular on the long-haul market thanks to its good fuel economy and performance characteristics. This 6-cylinder diesel is one of the most popular engines in the heavy-duty truck industry, selected for regional and heavy haul applications. There are many models equipped with the Navistar N13 engine making up to 475 hp, which is lighter than the Cummins unit and rather fuel-efficient. It displaces 12.4 liters but provides performance specs typical for larger-displacement units. Good fuel economy is achieved through an aerodynamic design as well, which is very beneficial in large trucks because of high air drag they usually encounter. As for the transmission, the ProStar is available with automatic and manual gearbox options by Allison and Eaton, respectively. There are several axle configurations including 4x2, 6x4, and 6x2.

For higher driver comfort and productivity, there is a cozy seat with a wide range of adjustment. Three interior trim levels include Deluxe, Premium, and top-of-the-line Eagle.
