CURT® - Class 3 Trailer Hitch with 2" Receiver Opening

Everything I read said this was a pretty easy install. Lies! Instructions say it takes a pro 30 minutes and a novice an hour to install. Lies! Overall, it wasn't too bad. But be prepared. You'll need to create a hole at least 1 1/8" in the frame. There is already a hole there, but unless you have a unibit that goes larger than an inch (I didn't), be prepared to do some grinding. I had to buy a die grinder ($10 bucks at a discount tool place that has to do with where ships might port) to make a big enough hole. The video on another site says it's not difficult. Depending on your skill level, it isn't, but be prepared. The fish wire included worked for me, though I had one that nearly pulled off the bolt when we were pulling it through. Have two people ready for installing this one. On my 2017 4x4 Latitude we put the hitch on a floor jack then had to put a weight in the receiver so it would rotate to install, otherwise it would bind up between the body and the exhaust brackets. And be prepared to buy a hitch that adds some height back in. It works and will likely do the job for many years of towing. Overall I'm happy with it just wasn't expecting the level of install difficulty we had. Your mileage may vary. As of January 2018, you won't find a better price online for this hitch. Hitch arrived super quick, I believe it was 2 days shipping.

The trailer hitch was an EXACT match to my 2017 Cadillac XT5. It is completely hidden behind bumper cover, which I love, because it's not an eyesore when not in use. Don't forget the wire kit! U-Haul will charge upwards of $300+ for the hitch and wire kit installation, so watch the YouTube video and get a buddy to help or find a local mechanic and save some money.

Received my Curt Class III 8000/800 weight capacity trailer hitch in a timely manner. Fit perfectly on my 2024 GMC Canyon. Only issue was that the existing factory Class I hitch had an extension plate on each side between the hitch & the bumper step brackets. Needed to add spacers to make everything match back up. Very pleased with the purchase.

I Almost bought the 1 1/4" receiver but decided that it would be too weak for hauling multiple bikes or pulling anything. I read a lot of articles about how much tongue weight a trailer hitch will have to withstand when going over bumps and potholes before deciding on the 2". My suggestion to you is to go with the 2" receiver.
