Product Details

ECTED Max™ Limited Slip Differential (545018) by Auburn Gear®. With Selectable Full Locker. The ECTED Max™ is a selectable traction device; an on/off switch is mounted near the driver. When "off" – the clutch pack, which is located behind the side gear provides the limited slip mode. As torque increases, the separating forces within the differential gears increase, causing the clutch pack to be compressed and thereby providing bias torque to the high traction wheel - your performance limited slip differential action. When selected "on", current is sent to the electromagnetic coil. The coil is retained by a clip that fits over one of the bearing cap bolts, making it non-rotational. The coil rides on a ball bearing. The ball bearings spin with the differential case.

Installation

The ECTED Max™ is a traction technology product that puts a selectable full-locker or limited-slip operational mode right at your fingertips. Shift on-the-fly with just the flip of a switch, and go from high-performance traction control to a full-locker mode that delivers 100 percent torque transfer to both wheels for extreme-duty off-roading and high performance drag racing. The ECTED Max™ enhances 2-WD mobility unlike any other performance traction differential on the market, while making 4-WD vehicles virtually unstoppable. ECTED Max™ is ideal for street-strip use. Limited-slip traction for street and fulllocker performance for the strip in one differential. Ideal for 4-WD vehicles that are used both on and off-road.

The coil creates a magnetic flux so that the pilot cone is pulled into engagement with thedifferential case. This frictional engagement causes the bearing balls to ride up on a ramp machined into the side gear. This radial travel of the balls also causes lateral movement of the side gear. The lateral movement of the side gear applies a force onto the center block. The center block has an elongated hole that the center pin fits through, allowing it to float. The center block applies force to the opposite side gear, compressing the clutch pack giving the user a solid axle assembly – the spool/locker performance you desire at the strip or off-road.
